Privacy & Control

Clear about your data.

Stonic is a character that talks with you, so what you say has to reach an AI to be answered. Here is exactly what stays on your PC, what goes to the AI, and what you can switch off.

Stonic AI runs its AI in the cloud: on a monthly plan your requests go through our servers to the AI model, and on Lifetime they go straight to your own AI provider. Your files, Stonic's memory of your conversations and your Face Lock data stay on your PC. What you say or type, and anything you ask Stonic to look at or read, is sent to the AI so it can answer. We keep no voice recordings, we never sell your data, and we never use it to train AI models.

What it does.

Your files stay on your PC

Stonic opens, finds and moves files on your PC without uploading them. Only when you ask it to read a file, or attach one, is the part it needs sent to the AI with your request.

The AI runs in the cloud

What you say or type goes to the AI to be answered — through our servers on a plan, or straight to your own provider on Lifetime. An internet connection is required.

Awareness and camera — your switch

Awareness (Stonic noticing what you are doing and speaking first) and the camera are on by default. When they look, a screenshot or photo goes to the AI. Turn either off at any time.

Memory lives on your PC

What Stonic remembers about you is saved on your computer. You can see it, edit it, tell it to forget something, or pause memory altogether.

Keys and Face Lock stay local

Your own API keys stay on your PC and are sent only to their provider. Face Lock keeps an encrypted face print on your PC and never sends it anywhere.

Never sold, never used for training

We keep no voice recordings and never sell your information or use it to train AI. We do record usage and app opens to run your plan and improve Stonic — our Privacy Policy lists exactly what.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. Stonic needs an internet connection, because the AI that understands you and answers runs in the cloud. Actions such as opening apps or finding files happen on your PC, and your files, memory and Face Lock data are stored on your PC.

What you say or type; a screenshot or webcam photo when Stonic looks (Awareness and the camera are on by default and can be switched off); and the parts of a file you ask it to read. On a monthly plan this goes through our servers to the AI model; on Lifetime it goes directly to your own AI provider.

We keep no voice recordings. On a plan, our servers keep a short, cleaned-up note of each request for a few days and a brief summary of the task, so we can see where Stonic struggles. Stonic's memory of you is stored on your PC. You can ask us to delete what we hold at any time.

Yes. Awareness has a switch in the title bar, and the camera has its own switch in Settings. When they are off, Stonic does not look at your screen or open your camera on its own.

No. We never sell your information and never use it to train AI models, and we do not allow the AI providers we use to train on it. On Lifetime, your requests go to your own AI provider, so their terms apply.
